Academic, non-profit, and U.S. government use
TFOCS is free for non-commercial use by registered students and employees of academic institutions, non-profit organizations, and U.S. government agencies, under the following conditions:
- If you make use of TFOCS in publishable work, you must cite both the software and the paper in your publication.
- You may not distribute TFOCS outside of your organization.
- All use must be non-commercial in nature.

For any other use besides the specific cases listed above, you must first obtain a commercial license from the California Institute of Technology.
